BODY
Typical cold weather golf outerwear is terribly deficient. It is always
bulky which unnecessarily effects the swing and is also usually porous
leaving little defense against a cold wind and rain  -  nobody has ever
been able to get me into a rain jacket.

My dad bought me about 15 separate articles of TECHWICK
containing jackets and thermal underwear from Eastern Mountain
Sports. Some of the underwear is sheer beyond belief for layering. But
I usually get by with one TECHWICK jacket.

I don’t even know I am wearing that TECHWICK jacket. It is sleek and
form fitting and also very light and flexible leaving ZERO effect on my
swing. And the technology is amazing. Just the one jacket breaks more
wind than if I had put on three sweaters. It is the wind that makes one
cold. I know from when I was younger that it is hard to accurately hit a
golf ball when you are shivering.

You can take a look at me wearing that one jacket down below. You
can hardly tell it’s a jacket or that it was meant for anything other than
golf. It carried me through the entire fall season even though the front
nine of our home course Beaver Island State Park GC is always ten
degrees colder than the back nine even in summertime because 5, 6 &
7 are 30 ft away from the Niagara River that a few miles away dumps
over Niagara Falls.

HANDS
I also have never liked to play with gloves. First of all you lose your
touch and then after a few holes aren’t your fingers just as cold as if
you wore none at all?

I use hand warmers and no gloves. I just keep the hand warmers in my
pockets and after I have finished walking up the fairway my fingers are
actually toasty even if it’s the 18th hole. If you’ve been reading my site,
just guess who came up with that idea too. I hope it’s legal – nobody
ever told me otherwise.
