The college selection process may in fact be one of the most
important decisions you make in your life (aside from whether to
go with the soft 9 or the hard wedge). I am evaluating my
options carefully as my education and my experiences in the
next four years will shape how I spend my next forty years.
That being said, golf has been such a big part of my life that I
want to find a school with not only the academics I am
interested in but also a team that I can be highly competitive on.
Given this decision's high importance, I will leave no stone
unturned in ensuring my college of choice is the right one for me.
As far as golf is concerned, I have known I wanted to play in
college since I first started my competitive career at the age of
twelve. Each summer I have played numerous tournaments
where I have had plenty of successes to go along with just as
many struggles along the way. These struggles have motivated
me to work that much harder to get to the elite level which I
think I am approaching. After a less then stellar summer (2009)
of playing and uncharacteristic scoring, I put the extra time in
and the results finally shined through in my fall season of high
times in the fourteen match season, I am convinced that I have
the game to play on a college team.
Playing college golf is all I talk about because I could not see
myself in school the next four years of my life without playing
the game I love. With my high school not getting a golf team
until my senior year, I am extremely eager to be a part of a
team and help them be as competitive as possible. I think my
consistent game strategy will provide the team with low scores
on a regular basis; something any team would welcome.
I fully understand the commitment necessary to play a collegiate
sport. I know it will mean practicing day in and day out to be
prepared for the matches. I am extremely excited to begin this
endeavor and ensure my natural talent reaches its full potential.
I believe my combination of work ethic and ability will be the
perfect combination to achieve what I want in my college
career; a fulfilling athletic experience along with a valuable
education to launch my career in the direction I intend.
